Amanda Ray and Joshua Carroll Tragic Accident Poweshiek Death and Obituary: Always In Our Hearts

The Poweshiek County community is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Amanda Ray, 30, of Des Moines, formerly of Montezuma, and Joshua Carroll, 29, of Montezuma, who were found dead in a submerged vehicle over the weekend.

On Saturday morning, April 5, at approximately 9 a.m., the Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a vehicle discovered in a drainage pond north of Lake Silverado in rural Montezuma. Upon arrival, deputies found both Amanda and Joshua inside the vehicle. Sadly, they were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have confirmed the identities of the victims as Amanda Ray and Joshua Carroll. Amanda, originally from Montezuma, had recently lived in Des Moines, while Joshua was a lifelong resident of Montezuma. The news of their untimely passing has left families, friends, and the community in shock and mourning.
